Tomorrow it will be 13 years since January 21, when during a protest of the Socialist Party, on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, four protesters were killed by the Guard of the Republic, Aleks Nika, Ziver Veizi, Hekuran Deda and Faik Myrtaj.
Journalist Artan Hoxha said in an interview for Euronews Albania that the decision of the Strasbourg Court confirmed that January 21 is a pure state crime.
Hoxha said that we continue to suffer the consequences of January 21 even today, since the spirit of the protest was killed that day.
According to him, if it were not for the media, which published the footage of the killing of the protesters by the guards, today all the opposition who called that demonstration would still be in prison.
“Yes, if the TV cameras had not caught the moment of the murder, we would be in the version that the murders were done by an uncle with an umbrella, we would have the opposition in prison, arrest warrants were ready for them. And the entire state mechanism convinced public opinion; took out the video, the ministers came out, the doctors came out and closed the event, until 11.30 when we came out with the footage of the murder”, said Hoxha.
