44 MPs of the opposition have signed the request to resubmit the mandate of Olta Xhaçka to the Constitutional Court.
Gazment Bardhi said that the Constitutional Court should restore the dignity that was defiled by the majority. Among the deputies who have signed, there are also from the ranks of Lulzim Basha, such as Ori Nebiaj. MP Agron Shehaj and Monika Kryemadhi have also signed.
“Together with the colleagues of the parliamentary group, we appeared at the GJK to file the request of 44 opposition MPs against Rama’s political decision to grant political protection to Olta Xhaçka. For the first time, the Assembly has declared itself sovereign. This is a matter that is no longer about 1/10th to seek constitutionality assessment. It has to do with the authority of the JI. It is in the honor of the JI that it must be convened urgently to restore to the country the dignity desecrated by the JI. It has never happened, despite the objections to throw the decisions of the JI into the bin with a political vote.
Secondly, it happens for the first time that while SPAK is investigating the robbery of 11 m2 of land from family members of former minister Olt Xhaçka, the Assembly conveys a message that it refuses to implement the decisions of justice. A flagrant violation of the Constitution and the only way to restore this right in the country is to appeal to the CJK. All opposition MPs joined in this request. All the MPs of the opposition who have taken seriously the motion presented to establish the incompatibility of Xhaçka’s mandate.’- said Bardhi.
With 72 votes against the majority and 39 votes in favor of the opposition, the Assembly decided against sending the mandate of MP Olta Xhaçka to the Constitutional Court. Xhaçka herself denied any accusation of illegal benefits or conflict of interest, while emphasizing that her husband only has the status of an assisted investor and not that of a special strategic investor.
