The Assembly of Albania, through an official letter, has notified the Central Election Commission of the termination of the mandate of the former Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahmetaj.
The socialist has been on the run for about 6 months and a series of investigations related to the incinerator affair are being conducted against him.
In the letter signed by the General Secretary of the Assembly, Genci Gjoncaj, it is emphasized that “I inform you that the term of office of SP MP Arben Ahmetaj will end before the constitutional term, due to his absence without reason for more than 6 consecutive months in the Assembly. This is because the last plenary session in which MP Arben Ahmetaj participated was on July 6, 2023”.
Now the CEC is expected to pass the mandate of Ahmetaj, one of the successors in the list of socialists of the District of Tirana.
Waiting for this post is Dallandyshe Bici, the current director of Cadastre, but it has been discussed in political circles that the latter will not accept the mandate.
If Bici refuses, the next on the list is Plarent Nderca, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior.
