In relation to the criticism of the athlete Luiza Gega, for not awarding rewards for 2023, the Ministry of Sports has also reacted. Asked by “Panorama Sport”, the ministry reacted by saying, among other things, that Gega received 13 rewards based on the results he achieved.
Here’s the full reaction:
The support of elite athletes is at the center of the policies of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
MAS has supported and continues to support elite athletes and their coaches through support for federations and through direct rewards for the results they have achieved in competitions in the international arena.
The awards given are based on the provisions of Article 27 of Law 79/2017 “On Sports” as amended and the by-laws derived from it.
Only for the year 2023, the rewards of elite athletes have resulted in about 55 million ALL for 23 elite athletes and their respective coaches for the achievements in the sports they represent.
Our athlete Luiza Gega has been supported over the last two years with 13 awards for 10 international competitions, based on her achievements, from the World level to the Balkan level, five of which are awards for the achievements of 2023.
We will continue during this year, being an Olympic year, the support for our elite athletes.
