The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party led by “Rithemelimi”, Eno Bozdo gave a statement to the media, he spoke about the population census and the non-publication of the results by INSTAT.
Bozdo says PD calls on INSTAT to maintain integrity and professionalism by providing the true figures.
According to him, official EU data show that nearly 1 million Albanians have left the country, while the population of our country has been reduced by 35% in the last 10 years alone.
STATEMENT OF MEMBER OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE DP, ENO BOZDO:
At the height of the public debate on the census in Albania, INSTAT’s announcement that the results will not be announced before June, is a strong alarm bell on the reliability of the figures that the government will serve us.
The last census in Albania was held in the period October-December 2011. Within October 2011, the counting process was completed and the preliminary data were officially announced in December 2011. So, only three months for data collection and preliminary processing.
In Albania 2024, the data was collected in September 2023 and the results will be announced in June 2024. After we have successfully counted 10 million tourists, we find it very difficult to count the remaining Albanians in this country!
The last census in the United States, with a population of about 340 million, began in January 2020 and preliminary results were announced in October 2020. The last census in China, with a population of 1.4 billion, began in November 2020 and the results were announced in May 2021. The last census in our neighbor, North Macedonia, with a population close to ours, began in September 2020 and the results were announced in March 2021.
The unjustified delay in announcing the results of the census in Albania, when 12 years ago, by the Berisha government, these results were announced within 3 months, cast strong doubts on the figures that the government will serve us, especially on the hottest topic, that of mass desertion of the country in the last decade.
Official EU data show that nearly 1 million Albanians have left the country. The preliminary information that comes informally shows that the last census also confirms this fact, that only 1.8 million people live in Albania, out of 2.8 million people who lived in 2011. These same data inform that the political pressure on INSTAT is too strong to hide the terrible truth of the abandonment of Albania.
The Democratic Party calls on INSTAT to maintain integrity and professionalism by providing us with only the true figures.
The truth is that the population of Albania has been reduced by 35% during this decade. That the Albanians for years surpass the Syrians in their requests for asylum. Rama knows and promotes this fact. His economic and social policies are such that they make it impossible for Albanians to live with dignity within the country. Education and health are collapsing. For order and security, don’t ask. Drugs and crime are masters of the economy.
The administration comes and puffs up to secure the votes of the next elections. The only sector that thrives is concreting with the financing of drug money. The opposition, the only one that raises its voice, has been closed to every legal door to control the government. Its leader is arrested and kept in isolation without any evidence even though SPAK has been investigating him for four years.
In this context, the cause of Albania’s undoing is Rama. The culprit must be put before the moral, political and legal responsibility.
Therefore, in these very serious circumstances, the opposition will continue its resistance without any compromise and its opposition action until the end. It is the responsibility of the opposition, of the Democratic Party, to expose the truth and appeal to the Albanians that it is necessary, today or never, to unite in a single front all those who want Albania not to be undone but to develop, so that Albanians do not they work for the welfare of other countries, but they can also sweat for their country.
Let’s not forget that Rama is temporary, but Albania is eternal.
Therefore, Or Today, Or never, for our Albania!
