The former deputy prime minister of the country, Arben Ahmetaj, who has been on the run for months, broke his silence in an interview with journalist Çim Peka. Ahmetaj said that he did not escape from the country, nor did anyone help him to leave, but he was with his family outside Albania at the time when the removal of his immunity was requested.
“I want to clarify to all those who are interested, I did not escape from Albania, as someone who tries to pretend to be knowledgeable or well-informed claims. No one allowed me to leave, no one helped me to leave. At the time I learned that my immunity was required, it was the 8th or 9th of July. I was with my family outside Albania for vacation. I want to clarify to the Albanians that I was prepared for extremity from the moment it started.
