The main factions of the opposition are trying to unite for the upcoming parliamentary elections, but the position of Sali Berisha as chairman and candidate for prime minister still seems to divide the MPs.
Andi Bushati, invited to the show “Te Paespozuarit” on MCN TV, said that this is an internal issue of the Democratic Party and that its members want Berisha as a candidate even though he personally does not see it as the right solution for the opposition.
“To think that in 2029, I can have Berisha as prime minister again, I find it terrifying, going back, repeating history, etc. The problem is that this is not a matter of my will at all, it is a matter of how the majority of The Democratic Party. We have the scruples of the elite, of the journalists, the narrow group of Tirana and the rest is what the majority of the PD thinks, who have shown that they love Berisha.
The question is, what is done in this case with Berisha?
Mrs. Vokshi said, we are 50 deputies. Will those 50 deputies who throw flour agree to be part of the team with candidate for prime minister Sali Berisha? It seems strange to me. If they accept it, my opinion is worthless. This is a matter of the DP’s internal will.

When the elections have no more value, what is important is not who the DP will find a false candidate, but how the DP will turn into a resistance force of the minority. We are not in the dilemma of who will win the elections, but will pluralism be annihilated or will a hope be preserved?
For pluralism to continue to survive, the DP must win the solution that is more consensual for the democrats and keeps them united”, said Bushati.
