The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, has stated that the February 20 protest will be a revival for the Democratic Party.
Deputy Gjekmarkaj says that there are no more intermediates and it must be decided “either with the opposition and the European future, or with the government and the transitory past that holds us hostage”.
Agron Gjekmarkaj: The Emancipating Power of Protest. Short memory is always dangerous. The Democratic Party must never lose the pride of remembering that it brought Albanians freedom, pluralism, the alliance with the West, the market economy, human rights, efforts for the rule of law, free movement without visas, the integration process, NATO and major infrastructure works in the 13 years she governed.
DP in December 1990 emancipated the Albanian community. Today, overcoming the divisions, with the strong debate symbol of a time we left behind realized the union that seemed impossible. The free wills with love for this country, with dedication to PD this national asset, made the impossible possible this time by emancipating themselves and creating the model of revival.
PD was born in December from student protests, it will be resurrected in February 2024 from the protest of a people forbidden in their freedoms, in the free vote, in the desire for change, in the tradition of living in their own lands without being stolen, without blackmailed, hostage to bad governance, corruption, scandals with incinerators and not only, banality, arrogance, patronage, violation of the opposition by denying the Constitution.
DP is creating its events in tune with the needs of society. Albanian politics is still far from the aspirations of public opinion. It needs free people, its own elites and professionals, not robots, as guarantors of alternatives and critical judgment.
PD on the eve of February 20 is a party that moves, with the commitment that the interests of the citizens will be protected as well as their dream to be governed honestly and with democratic standards.
The February 20 protest is her big conversation with the Albanians. DP proves to them that the Opposition came out of the siege. She is clear in her objectives to defeat the “Renaissance” by designing the project that returns Albania to its citizens. We will remove from him a caste that has gripped him with its nails.
In the name of our children who we want here when they grow up and not a candidate for immigrants! In the name of a dream that we are not seeing come true, a horizon line that recedes every time we approach it, of the compass “Albania as all of Europe” let’s turn the protest into the Supreme Institution of an Albania that no longer has a Constitution and Parliament.
Today there is no in between!! Oh with the Opposition and the European future, oh with the Government and the transitional past that holds us hostage. Indifference works against Albania.
The protest does not start only to show Edi Rama the political place he deserves, cynical to say but true, we will also be there to give him and his supporters a better Albania than the one we have today.
We do not come out of anger nor driven by hatred. We come out of love for human dignity, the vital need for freedom and justice, for the present and the future of Albania, which is so endangered today. We love Albania democracy not autocracy.
