Prisoners in Durrës have petitioned for the approval of the Criminal Amnesty, since the opposition refuses to join the votes with the majority for the passage of the draft law in the Assembly.
There are 46 prisoners who have signed the petition addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama, Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla, Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja and parliamentary groups in the Assembly.
They state that they cannot be held hostage for political bargaining, asking to find a common language in order to be released from prison.
The prisoners consider their request legitimate, as they state that they were promised amnesty by the government.
Petition
We address the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama
The Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla
Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja
All parliamentary groups of the Albanian Parliament
We, the prisoners of Durrës prison who benefit or not from the law on Criminal Amnesty, request that, as promised by the government, we have the opportunity to be amnestied as soon as possible.
We cannot be held hostage to political bargains. At all times there has been amnesty, so we ask that a language be found between politics so that we can be outside at the service of our families.
Prisoners have a status, there is no left and right, we are one.
We pray that political grudges will not be a dead end for us.
We want to serve our families. We ask that our political demand be considered.
