The show “Në Shënjestre” by Klodiana Lala on News 24, dealt yesterday evening with the murder of Pëllumb Meta in Shinavlash, Durrës by his children. The investigators of the incident also questioned the wife of the victim, Blerina Meta.

A long history of hatred within the Meta family, which had apparently been brewing for some time. But the climax was on February 10, 2024. When the eldest son of the family, just two hours after his father had arrived at the apartment, while leaving his work shift in a car park, decided to end his life with four bullets. Of an unlicensed pistol that the head of the family kept at home.
While he was resting in the living room of the second floor of the apartment. A story which then follows with false alibis, lies that seek to cover the truth and the involvement of the whole family in the act of hiding the body of their head of the family. But how did the father’s murder happen in the village of Shënavlash in Durrës? What motive should lead three children to join together in this crime and give another direction to the truth? Or to fabricate his sudden departure from the family, to lose track of the police?
According to the investigations carried out, chronologically, everything seems to start on February 13, 2024. The first to appear at the Local Police Directorate in Durrës, is Hysen Meta, the eldest son of the family. The one who alleges in this directory the loss of his father, Pëllumbit, who according to him had left the family in an unusual way since February 10, 2024.
“On February 13, 2024, citizen Hysen Meta, a resident of the village of Shënavlash in Durrës, appeared at the Durrës Local Police Directorate, who reported that his father Pëllumb Meta did not come to the apartment and his location is unknown. This is because his phone also turns off. The father also took with him the ‘Citroen’ type vehicle with license plate AA125YO”, explained the police. But while several days passed after this report, surprisingly none of Pëllumb Meta’s family members appeared at the police. Even to say whether their father had returned home safe and sound, or was still missing. Only four days later, after continuous checks, the police were able to find not far from the apartment the Citroën type vehicle used by the person, until this moment declared missing by the family.
“On September 17, 2024, around 3:00 p.m., after numerous searches and checks carried out by the police, it was possible that in the village of ‘Sektori Rinia’, in the pine area near the coast, he was found dead, unharmed and closed, ‘Citroen’ type vehicle, owned by citizen Pëllumb Meta. After the vehicle was found, the area was searched by drone, but no trace of the missing citizen was found, nor was there any evidence related to the incident. After the vehicle was found closed, the investigative group at the scene decided to transport the car to the local police department”, it is further stated. Where he faced the first evidence, which would raise the suspicion that the event was not as it was reported by the family members, but a suspected murder.
Preliminary investigations
From the external and internal inspection of the vehicle, no papillary traces were found. A strand of hair was found at the head of the passenger seat and sent for examination, and sterile swabs were used to obtain biological evidence in several places in the vehicle. The first people who were asked about the disappearance of their relative were Pëllumb Meta’s wife, children and brother, but not his daughter, Hygerta. They stated that their relative worked as a night watchman in a parking lot at the car market.
“My husband works as a night watchman in a parking lot at the car market from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next day. Usually he also works during the day helping dealers wash cars, against payment. On Saturday, February 10, he came to the apartment in the morning and after eating lunch he went to work. The next day he did not come home, nor did he go to work on Monday. I talked to my coworkers, but they also told me that he didn’t come to work, and he didn’t even answer the phone, which was turned off. Pëllumb had no conflicts, nor a relationship with any other woman”, Pëllumb Meta’s wife is said to have declared to the police.
And while giving this testimony, where it is interesting that according to his wife, he had not returned to the apartment after having eaten lunch, she took care to tell the investigative team that this was not the first time that her husband left apartment and that he often lost consciousness. “During the day, Pëllumbi hung out at the bars near work, at a bakery that also had a bar. A few years ago, he developed mental health problems and left his apartment unconscious twice. Where once he went to Krujë where the police found him and another time where he went as far as Shetaj i Ishmi. But in these cases he had opened the phone and was not taking any medication for the disease he was exhibiting”, stated Blerina Meta.
