The Dutch ambassador, Reinout Vos, in a statement to the media from Korça, commented on the two summits that took place in Tirana two days ago, for Ukraine and the EU-Western Balkans.
Asked by journalists about Albania’s chances to integrate into the EU, the ambassador expressed optimism about the new chapter group.
“Negotiations have already started, but I believe that for the new group of the chapter, this is a decision that will be taken by the council, but I believe that it will be given. This is an ongoing process, there is no reason not to open it soon, and it is a decision that will be made”, said the ambassador.
Among other things, he was asked about the political situation in the country, as a result of the blocking of the plenary sessions by the opposition group.
Reinout Vos has called on the political parties to return to the institutional process of the parliament in the best possible way
“In a democratic country, the parliament is the heart of the whole state and it is a pity that in one month the parliamentary procedures have not been in the right course and I call on the political parties to return to the institutional process of the parliament in the best way possible. possible because once again the parliament is the heart of democracy”, he said.
Thus, the Dutch Ambassador also commented on the demands of the opposition to foreign representations, while emphasizing that: All political parties must contribute to all normal procedures of parliamentary life and for this reason we have a continuous communication with all political parties in Albania .
At the moment, we have blockages in all parliamentary procedures, one of which is the electoral reform.
Europe is made of unity and diversity and therefore we do not have a fixed recipe on how democracy can be organized in our institutions, it depends on the Albanian institutions to reorganize these elements.
