The Court of Appeal rejected Hygerta and Amarildo Meta’s request for a lighter security measure.
Sister and brother took part in the serious event that happened in February in Shënlash of Durrës, where they killed and buried their father Pëllumb Meta.
The younger brother of the family, Amarildo Meta, was also arrested for the serious incident, for the criminal offense of “Hiding and disposing of the corpse”, while their mother, Blerina Meta, was also prosecuted.
Hygerta Meta has taken over the serious crime, but the investigators believe that it was the eldest son of the family who shot the father with 4 bullets.
Due to the conflicting testimonies given by the children during the preliminary investigations, the police also conducted an investigative experiment, taking all the children and the mother to shoot at a shooting range.
The experiment showed that Hygerta Meta was able to load the gun, but did not manage to shoot at the target, while Hysen Meta, whom the investigative group believes to be the executioner, refused to shoot, saying that he did not know how to hold weapon.
The experiment was also done by Blerina Meta and Amarildo Meta, who said that they had never held a weapon in their hand before.
The prosecutor’s office and the Durrës police say that the investigations continue, while the serious incident was recorded in Shënvlash on February 10, but was discovered a few days later, after the children reported to the police that their father had disappeared.
After the murder, they, together with their mother, buried the body of the 50-year-old in the shed near the apartment.
