The head of the PDIU, Shpëtim Idrizi, in a conversation with Arian Galdini in “Galdinicas” spoke about the former leader of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano.
Idrizi said that he has great respect for Nano and described him as a knowledgeable person, while adding that “of course he has his own bright spots”.
Among other things, the head of the PDIU said that the advantage he had compared to the other Prime Ministers of Albania is that he was an economist by profession.
“Every time I remember Fatos Nano, I have respect and admiration. I have known him closely and I say with conviction that he is one of the most knowledgeable people, He has a 360% background. He is an open-minded man. He is a visionary politician. It was possible to establish criteria and parameters to establish a democratic society. And the way he exited the political scene very quickly. But because of the reminiscences, we want the strong leader, the great leader, the leader that we have something to do, and that we respect until the day that he is strong. But when his foot falls, he slips, we all jump on his back.
That said, the Nano was a different model. A very knowledgeable person, of course with other lights and shades. He had an advantage that other prime ministers did not have. He was an economist and understood much better the market economy, the respect of a state where the state is not primary and gives importance to competition to include as many actors as possible. I wanted to say that it is good luck that Albania had economists as prime minister”, said Idrizi.
