Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Health, Albana Koçiun, were in a meeting with the leaders of the services at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center.
Prime Minister Edi Rama asked the leaders of the structures of the SCU to raise their voices and report problems such as the case in Oncology. The head of government said that for some people, all white shirts are seen as suspects and not as servants and this must change.
“There is nothing missing in the cardiac emergency system and 5 thousand lives have been saved in that hospital. But it is enough to have 5 masquerades hidden in your ranks like the spiders of the Oncology for everything to be covered by the shadow of doubt and the dedication and professionalism of your troop to be hit by a wave of legitimate revolt of a people. Therefore, I hope that none of them will forget the terrible experience of these completely undeserved days and the violation of the dignity of everyone and the white shirt. There are a number of units in this hospital that have made a much more significant volume than a few years ago, but 2 thousand patients in the cerebrovascular emergency treatment unit, 2 thousand patients covered with the entire range of oncological diseases in the radiotherapy unit and then thousands others, according to the divided tasks, do not make news. They are your everyday. All of these fall as well as the perception of medicines where the conditions for maintaining quality and managing medicines, thanks to the investment, are the same as in the best hospitals in Europe.
When the Pfizer team saw the warehouse, they couldn’t believe it was in Albania. The total budget for drugs to treat tumor diseases has tripled to 30 million euros per year and has made it possible to expand the treatment protocol for oncological diseases. Is there a greater injustice for all of you that for the waywardness of a group of individuals, today you are seen not as servants but as a whole category suspected by a people hurt in spirit by their criminal behavior. Their responsibility is individual, but your responsibility as the leader of the structure is to react, to take special care of the daily functioning of the structure or under the structure you lead and to push the reformation of this institution step by step, nurturing the spirit of humanity. The meeting before I came here with the Oncology team was impressive in a negative sense for the psychological and moral breakdown of everyone which is natural because they are the closest of all those spiders but also for the fact that it is still missing, and I hope it is an effect of trauma, the awareness that what is at stake is much greater than individual egos and whatever may be the reason for having different opinions about how the Oncology hospital should function,” Rama said.
