The decision of the Court of Appeal, which gave the seal to Sali Berisha, caused the Basha group to start discussions about what would be done with his political future.

At the discussion table of the forums of the Basha group, several ideas were thrown, such as: Creating a new party, appealing the decision of the Appeal, or everyone going to their work.

Lulzim Basha said publicly that he will appeal the decision, hoping that something like this can return the seal of the Democratic Party.

But another majority, members of the Presidency, deputies, and members of the National Council, do not agree with Basha, whom they voted for on July 29, 2023, to lead the official DP.

And this clash has brought another split in the Basha grouping, MP Enkelejd Alibeaj, Edvin Kulluri, Roland Bejko, Rezart Kthupi, Agron Kapllanaj, Gjergj Hani, are thinking of creating a new party.

And this move of theirs does not have Basha’s approval, while this move is also a response to him, as former colleagues estimate that he had 10 months to show that he had changed, and that the peak was when he did not accept the creation of a new party.

Also, the same source declares that there is dissatisfaction with Basha, since he did not resign from the DP Parliamentary Group, which is already controlled by Sali Berisha, as Enkelejd Alibeaj did a few days ago. Sources say that if Basha wants, his inclusion in the new party is not excluded.

Fatbardh Kadilli is another name that is expected to join this new party, while other figures who may have left politics are also invited.
Sources say that the originators of this movement are also discussing with deputies of the Basha group, to be part of this party. While their disunity was noticed a few days ago when he called the National Council and there were only 5 deputies present out of 10: Arbi Agalliu, Orjola Pampuri, Selaudin Jakupllari and Merita Bakiu.

This new opposition party is expected to be called “IDE” – Initiative of Euro-Atlantic Democrats. This party will not have a president, but will be led by a collegial body in the 2025 elections./panorama.al
