The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, was asked if she would agree to replace Ervin Salianj as political leader of the Democratic Party in Elbasan.
Tabaku stated that decision-making for political leaders is the prerogative of the party chairman, emphasizing: “Political leaders are a statutory decision-making body of the party chairman and let’s leave it to the troops of the Democratic Party to make the right decisions.”
Tabaku also stopped at the arrest of Ervin Salianji, whom he described as a very important and vocal figure in the Democratic Party, who will be absent in the 2025 elections.
Asked how the opposition action will continue, Tabaku said that the protests, which had been discussed for a long time, will begin.
“This protest has been discussed for a long time, but every day other things are added. Because the citizen protest is also related to the economic and social situation, but in the meantime the imprisonment of Ervin Salianji happened, the non-implementation of the decision of the Constitutional Court, for the deputy Xhaçka, so other factors happened that at a moment where Albania is, I hope to cause the popular support that is necessary. It has been a long time since the PD structures have been asking for the organization of a protest and I think it is the moment to do it”, said Tabaku in “Euronews Albania”.
