Prime Minister Edi Rama did not spare jokes with the European Union, regarding the delay of Albania’s accession process.
During the opening conference of the first chapter of integration in Luxembourg, Rama said that the EU has humiliated Albania three times, postponing the opening of negotiations even though the conditions had been met.
Among other things, Rama said with a laugh that the obstacles of Brussels did not diminish Albania’s desire to be part of the big European family.
Three times we were humiliated one after the other. We were ready, EC said we are ready and then the dynamics as Peter mentioned behind closed doors were such that three times we were humiliated. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, a German philosopher said. So we came out stronger and here we are. We know that the road ahead is long and old habits don’t go away easily and the road can turn into a road with obstacles again, but for us there is no other way, no future. Everyone should understand that when Albanians fall in love, no one can stop them”, said Rama.
