The head of the Joint Movement, Arlind Qori, in the pensioners’ protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, stated that the government has an excuse for the lack of money for increasing pensions.

He said that if you compare the salaries of MPs with the minimum pension in Italy, they are 10 times higher, while in Albania they are 41 times higher.

“Edi Rama’s government justifies itself for not increasing pensions because it has no money. The same government says that GDP has doubled. The same government justifies that it has no money, the same says that it earned 4 billion euros from tourism. ALL 1 billion is enough to increase the pension and for the minimum pension to be 220 euros.

In developed Italy, the MP’s salary is 10 times the minimum pension. In Albania 41 times higher, in the country with the lowest pensions in Europe.

We cannot become Italy, Germany and Switzerland, but we can become like the countries of the region. Albania has an average pension of 180 euros per month. How is it possible that our neighbors at the same economic level as us have high pensions? I tell you, we have the most corrupt and incompetent government”, said Qori.

He encouraged the pensioners to continue the protest, as they were told that they are the greatest hope that Albania has.

“With this protest, you nailed Edi Rama. It has never been more difficult than the student protests in 2018. What 30 thousand students achieved, you achieved here. Don’t stop, sisters and brothers.

We are today the powerful fist that falls on the mountain of corruption. We will protest until the mountain of injustices turns to ashes. You have the opportunity to become the locomotive of society. You are the greatest hope that Albania has today”, said Qori.
