The Albanian language has not escaped the influence of globalization and many foreign terms have become part of our daily vocabulary and are even used more commonly than words in our native language.
Such a problem has gone so far that even funeral homes have foreign names.
“These are the structures that organize the day of mourning. I have one near my house where it says “Funeral Home”, meaning they will come from America, from Israel, from I don’t know where, from Japan, they will come to be buried here. Really, for whom? Are you addressing the Albanian public? This is complete madness”.
This was stated today by Professor Edmond Tupja, who spoke on Alphabet Day about the importance of preserving the Albanian language.
