The leader of the Democratic Party-Euroatlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, in an interview with Euronews Albania, also spoke about the release of Sali Berisha, which according to him is part of the agreement with Rama.
Basha said that the cooperation between them has gone through several stages, and one of the stages is the release of the former prime minister. According to him, Berisha is needed by Rama for the fight against SPAK.
“From a political point of view, rumors have been circulating since the beginning of the year that there would be a pact between Mr. Ram and Mr. Berisha, which would have several stages. The first stage was unfortunately concretized in that it was the release of Edi Rama’s corrupt people with Sali Berisha’s cards. The second stage was the passing of the seal to Sali Berisha in flagrant violation of the Supreme Court’s decision and the Albanian law on political parties. The third stage was the vote to close the lists, to dictate closed lists to the Albanians with the decision of the Constitutional Court, and the fourth stage is the frontal but also flanking blow to SPAK, which today constitutes the greatest threat and the biggest troublemaker for Edi Rama and his government cabinet.
And for this, he has to use anyone, of course, including people who are already facing SPAK, such as Sali Berisha. The fact is that the prosecution has conducted the investigation, has completed the investigation and has taken the file to court. As far as I know, the trial of the case will start in mid-December, the trial for the case for which Mr. Berisha is accused has been scheduled. So we will not wait for the decision to be revealed, but it would not be strange if the court were to argue that after the investigation is completed, the need for coercive measures against Mr. Berisha has also ended, given that he will face the judicial process. I do not want to get into a position of speculation regarding the court decisions.
The fact is that Mr. Rama and Mr. Berisha have a very close cooperation. But on the other hand, there is great hope that SPAK, including GJKKO, will continue to approach every issue with integrity and based on the law and only the law for every decision.
I do not belong to that category of people who have chosen to bargain with the fate of Sali Berisha. I know that there are many who pretend to be happy but who have reached their breaking point, I am talking about his ranks. I know that there are others who have linked their political existence to whether or not Sali Berisha is under arrest.
Both of these categories deserve my disgust in the political sense of the word. Because they are people who have linked their political existence, and even their human existence, to what happens to Sali Berisha.
Albania must move forward, it must move forward. And in order to move forward, it must leave behind Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, who not only have nothing to give to Albania, but clearly cooperate against the interests of Albanians for their own interests,” Basha said:
Basha further emphasized that Albania must move forward and leave behind the duo who have nothing to give.
According to him, it is time to reject these people with a vote, while he said that the Euro-Atlantic Democrats offer a strong alternative with 140 new candidates, who have remained loyal to the interests of the citizens and not their personal interests.
“These people must be rejected and the time to reject them with a vote is approaching. The alternative will also be us with 140 candidates, proven people, who have remained loyal to the interests of the citizens and not their personal interests. And as for the candidates for deputies, I tell you that it is a combination of individuals who in these 3 years have carried an extraordinary weight. “A weight that belonged to those who had the heaviest bronze shoulder pads on their shoulders and who went and diminished in the eyes of the democrats for their personal interests, for their personal chair. But on the other hand, there have been colossi, a body of political colossi has been identified who have known how to stand with sacrifices for something much bigger than themselves. Without differentiating them, according to a transparent process and some of them are in parliament,” Basha said.
