A powerful explosive explosion occurred on Friday evening in the village of Varage in the Zubin Potok municipality, damaging the Ibër-Lepenci water canal. The attack occurred a few hours after Kosovo police announced increased security measures at the national level.

As a result, the canal was destroyed, while there was an interruption in the water supply to several cities and also to the Kosovo Energy Corporation.

Authorities called it a terrorist attack. Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla said that the perpetrators used about 15 kilograms of explosives.

As a result of a terrorist act, a part of the Ibër-Lepenci canal, which is considered critical infrastructure, was seriously damaged. The exact amount of explosives is not yet known, but according to Kosovo police experts, who are also expected to be assisted by KFOR experts, it is about 15 kilograms of explosives… We can freely say that it is the largest act against critical infrastructure since the end of the war in Kosovo.
