The founder of ‘Djathtas 1912’, Enkelejd Alibeaj, in a press conference today, said that his party supports SPAK and the extension of the mandate of SPAK prosecutors.
‘Djathtas 1912’ supports the activity of SPAK in these 5 years. For us, SPAK is the only institution that can and does fight corruption in this country. SPAK cannot fight it alone and more commitment is needed from the institutions in the country.
Public opinion encourages and supports SPAK. Spak and GJKKO are hopeful. Meanwhile, these want to undermine the work of SPAK,’ he said.
Alibeaj stated that the ‘Djathtas 1912’ party does not support the ‘Xhafaj’ commission, since according to him the latter is delegating the work of SPAK.
‘Regarding the ‘Xhafaj’ commission, we do not support it, because it was started politically with the aim of delegitimizing SPAK. We support every request and every initiative and suggestion that comes from SPAK. The reform in justice was meant so that politics would not interfere and it did.
I also heard the speech of the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans Alexander Kasanof, he said in his speech that SPAK should be supported and support is the possibility of reapplying for another mandate of prosecutors and I fully support it.
Albanians have given SPAK and GJKKO, which are products of international partners, support. Every party that says it is a product of the DP or the DP aims to delegitimize SPAK and to bring it into the public eye as a political creature. Today, SPAK prosecutors, but also the head of the Prosecutor’s Office, should be given the opportunity to re-run,’ he said.
