Pope Francis received this Thursday at the holy seat in the Vatican the World Grandfather of the Bektashis, Baba Mondi. This meeting comes within the framework of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Bektashi Grandfathership in Albania.
In this meeting, Pope Francis blessed the creation of the new Sovereign Bektashi State. “A beautiful initiative that I bless,” the Pope is reported to have said during the meeting.
The document on Abu Dhabi Human Fraternity was also signed between the Pope and Baba Mondi.
It is learned that they have jointly signed the Document on Human Fraternity. The latter is otherwise known as the Abu Dhabi Declaration, which was made public in 2019 and aims to establish peace in the world.
We recall that Prime Minister Edi Rama declared in September last year that he would build a new state for the Bektashis. According to him, the goal is to promote a more tolerant version of Islam that Albania is proud of.
