Actress Julia Ilirjani is now the Democratic Party’s candidate on the open list of Tirana for the May 11 parliamentary elections. In a media interview, when asked why she decided to run for MP, Ilirjani said that Albania is returning to a dictatorship,
When asked why she chose Berisha and not Rama, the actress describes the prime minister as an arrogant person, whom she has ignored since school. According to her, Rama does not know how to do anything, both in politics and in painting.
Julia: It came quite naturally. I have never thought of myself in politics. I have always received information about what is happening in politics. When I joined “BBV” I joined to make my own game. I found myself being labeled as a person who was there to give messages. I think this started the idea of showing myself in my full dimension.
Question: Why with the Democratic Party?
Julia: The youth of the 90s are blue. I believe that the DP will return and I think it is necessary. Albania is turning into a dictatorship. Every leader who stays for so long and pretends to stay still… I see parents in Albania who want to take their children abroad. The intellectuals of Albania are not getting paid. All the people in Tirana are depressed. People must stand up and demand their rights.
Question: What would you say to Edi Rama?
Julia: I have ignored Rama since school. He has always been arrogant. Go away because you have tired us out, you have not done any painting, nor are you doing politics. I will invite artists, women, communities. I will invite Egla Cenon to give her thoughts.
