The program “Report” on Rai 3 broadcast yesterday an exclusive interview of the former deputy prime minister, Arben Ahmetaj, who since July of last year, when SPAK issued the arrest warrant, is in Arret.
Among other things in the interview, Ahmetaj claims that there are data showing that mafia bosses receive public money and construction permits for money laundering.
“Criminal groups receive public tenders through “presta nome”, and recycle the money in Albania through the construction sector. They coordinate with Edi Rama,” says Ahmetaj.
According to the accusations of the former deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj, now on the run, Rama has direct relations with the heads of the clans, and he says that he has seen this himself.
“He meets the mafia bosses in the Prime Minister, I have seen them.” Ahmetaj claims that the reports are mediated by an investor from Durrës, E.A, a businessman.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Edi Rama has denied the accusations in front of Italian journalists. Rama calls his former deputy unreliable.
“People who should not be taken seriously. Albanian politics is not contaminated by the mafia”, says Rama.
Rama accepts the meeting with Luftar Hysa, described by the Canadian authorities as a Sinaloa recycler, but denies that there was a second meeting between them. “I met him once, then never again”, emphasizes Rama.
RAI journalists also include in their investigation well-known figures of Italian politics, such as the case of former Prime Minister Massimo D’Alema, who according to the journalists “Albania has turned out to be a place of success for him”.
In recent years, many Italian businessmen have sought their fortune beyond the Adriatic. Among them, Massimo D’Alema Report has discovered that last year, the former Italian prime minister opened a lobbying company “A&I” in Tirana, where until a few months ago the newly created companies did not pay any taxes. “This company in Albania deals with cryptocurrency”, claims Arben Ahmetaj.
Asked by Report, D’Alema denies this. Meanwhile, in Tirana since 2019, “Consulcesi tech” has opened its doors, a firm that has inaugurated in Malta a specialized fund on cryptocurrency investment. “This company is represented by Massimo Tortorella, D’Alema’s former partner in the wine business. In 2019, D’Alema and Rama inaugurated together in Tirana the launch of the “Consulcesi Tech” activity, participating in a meeting on blockchain”, continues the “Report” on Rai3.
