Academic Artan Fuga spoke on A2 CNN, where he commented on the protest held yesterday Thursday following the tragic event of the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani.
Fuga described the public reaction as insufficient and confusing, emphasizing that it was not clearly understood what was required of the protest. “It was a very painful case, a phenomenon that affects the entire society, especially the lives of children and adolescents,” he said.
According to the academic, media platforms and social networks often create a false sense of action. “By expressing oneself in the media, one thinks that one has acted, but in reality, the social reaction seems to be numb,” Fuga added, criticizing the lack of a stronger protest. He compared this situation to what would happen abroad, where such an event would have caused extraordinary reactions, he said.
Fuga emphasized that this is not a problem that affects only the “Fan Noli” school or the Ministry of Education, but a much broader issue that reflects shortcomings at several levels of society and institutions.
He called for a deeper reflection and stronger reactions to events that affect the lives and safety of children in Albania.
