Democratic deputy Xelal Mziu sees the meeting of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party from Gazment Bardhi, after two years of absence in the blue headquarters, as a warning but that it is an action that is still not enough for the consolidation of the DP. Invited to MCN, he stated that yesterday’s meeting was not a momentary movement nor a bolt from the blue.
According to him, the signal was given in July of last year and was concretized on September 5 when the DP group and other allies gathered and we have been coherent with the opposition political action, within the Assembly but also in the committees.
“It was necessary to advance further and yesterday was a very positive moment that has created a very positive synergy for the citizens, neither the meetings of the last six months nor yesterday are enough to have a competitive DP in the elections of 2025. The battle is not only on February 20, but the battle remains for the DP to turn into a governing force in the elections of 2025. The head of the DP group is written in the statute that he must be the vice president of the DP. Bardhi is the product of the election of 43 deputies. As long as it was chosen by the deputies of the Reestablishment. The most important is the people who represented all political structures in the April 25 elections. 43 out of 51 MPs have voted for the chairman of the group. The head of the parliamentary group is automatically the vice-president of the party. A political force is measured by the output it gets in political elections and the whole battle goes to the function of election day. The 20th is the next symbolic battle, but it is not our battle. Our main battle is with the organization of the party, to further open the party and to bring closer those people who, because of the conflict, contemplate the party from afar.” – said the DP deputy.
Mziu added that one of the main battles is making the diaspora an ally and that there will be their representation in the lists of the Democratic Party, starting from the USA, Italy, England, or Greece. He said that they are working intensively with the Albanians who are abroad, with the structure that was before, but that was disintegrated and divided into several parts during this period and to absorb other people.
“As soon as the 20th passes, the working groups will be on the ground, including the diaspora, to consolidate at the base. This form of organization that the Democratic Party will have in the future, those deputies who are from Basha’s lair, will be left with the fingers of their hand. The union of the DP and the parliamentary group, which was seen with skepticism, even those deputies who were not there yesterday, will come and join the parliamentary group.” – said Mziu.
