Deputy Kreshnik Çollaku reacted after the decision to leave Lulzim Basha’s group and join the official Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha, after the decision of the Court of Appeal on the seal.
In a post on social networks, Çollaku writes that for those who used to be a “traitor” today is a “hero” and for those who used to be a “hero” today is a “traitor”. He writes that from the beginning it was only for the union of the democrats and against division or division.
The democratic deputy says that today the PD is divided, but he keeps his promise. He further adds questions about whether the DP is ready today to support parties that have a different opinion, as he informs that he will soon make his ideas and proposal public.
Kreshnik Çollak’s full reaction:
Since the beginning of the conflict within the DP, regardless of the degree and form of its deterioration, regardless of my conviction and support towards one side or the other…, in every situation, in every position, at every time, I have asked for only one thing, Unity democrats, I called to avoid the worst split, the split of the DP.
For these attitudes, at different times, some called me “hero, centrist, true democrat”, others “hostage, sellout, traitor”.
In a tragicomic way, for some who hold the Enverist model of world division, the roles were reversed.
For those who yesterday I was a “traitor” today I am a “hero”, and for those who yesterday I was a “hero” today I am a “traitor”.
In fact, I’m not a traitor, but I’m not a hero either, I’m a 19-year-old from 1990 who I don’t want to see stained in 2024, PD that we founded at that time with so much hope.
Today there is a new and different reality in PD.
The court case that we had gave a verdict. We all promised to recognize and respect him.
I am among those who made this promise yesterday.
Today I am a man who is keeping his word.
As always and today, I think that the DP must be United in order to be a winner.
I also think that today PD is divided.
Union cannot be Subordination.
Can DP keep within itself the opinion or attitude differently?
Can DP keep within the same seal or flag, individuals or groups who think differently, who make individual or organized Dissidence against the official leadership?
I have my own ideas and proposal, which I will soon make public.
I encourage other friends and colleagues, if they have to do their part, to open a dialogue or debate with each side on this issue, which I consider vital for the future of the DP and the Opposition in Albania.
