When about 2 years have passed since the serious incident in the capital where the foreign citizen Xhoi Ayoko was brutally raped and then jumped from the balcony of the apartment where she lived, the case of the Kenyan woman has not yet been clarified by the Albanian authorities.
The young woman was brutally raped on August 13, 2022 and fell into a coma, but died a few weeks later in a hospital in Kenya. The Albanian prosecution continues to wait for letters from the Kenyan authorities, but without result even though 1 year and 2 months have passed since the request was sent.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana sent a letter to Kenya in February 2023 and asked it to make available the autopsy performed on the 22-year-old in the morgue of the hospital where she died, but also to interrogate the mother of the Kenyan girl who will answers some questions about the event, but also about some of Joy’s belongings, such as the laptop that Ruth Abongo took with her to Kenya. Even Joey’s mother herself has long since sent emails to the Kenyan authorities regarding the letter, but they have not yet responded.
News 24 was also contacted by the mother of the Kenyan girl. Ruth Abongo states that some time ago, a “fake” address on Facebook called “municipality” wrote to Ruth Abongo, introducing herself as an “agency” that is investigating Joe’s case, telling her that they are conducting investigations for killing with the intention of doing justice. This “fake” address asks Ruth Abongo where she suspects the author and mentions the casino driver if he is involved in the crime, Ruth Abongo says yes.
Then the anonymous addressee writes that the driver may have been pushed by third parties, someone who knew his intentions towards Joey. In the end, he tells them that they will try to confirm their theory as soon as possible regarding the truth. The girl’s mother does not believe her identity and purpose and tries to get this address with a video camera, but this address blocks her phone calls and closes her Facebook account altogether.
According to Joe’s mother, she suspects that the person who wrote to this address could be one of the perpetrators, collaborators or any repentant person involved in the serious incident. It is also not excluded the possibility that it could be an attempt to obstruct and divert the investigations or to get information about the case from Joe’s mother.
We remind you that since August 14, 2022, the girl from Kenya was admitted to the Trauma hospital for treatment, after being brutally raped and thrown from the second floor of the apartment where she lived on “Pandeli Evangjeli” street in Tirana. After 6 months in the hospital, Joy returned to her country in Kenya where she passed away at the Kenyatta hospital. The case of the rape of the 22-year-old also brought representatives of the Kenyan embassy in Italy to Tirana. The young woman worked in a casino in Tirana where she lived for a long time together with some of her friends from Kenya.
