The relationship with international justice and the change of the electoral system are the points that Dashamir Shehi shares with his opposition colleagues to enter the 2025 elections together.
Invited to A2 CNN, the head of the LZHK said that it is for the overthrow of the electoral system, the opening of the lists, electronic voting, without the old commissioners, that according to him the rest of the opposition does not have this desire.
“So far we are alone, if the law changes we will see what the possibilities are. If the position of the opposition colleagues will change, we will see. We are alone because today we do not agree with the opposition on many points; in relation to justice, in relation to internationals, we do not agree on the changes to the electoral law and on participation in the parliament, which have now fortunately entered the parliament, and I am afraid that this work was done only for that work of dialogue. I am beyond coalitions, for the overthrow of the electoral system, to open the lists, to add electoral districts, to open the lists and not only vote for the party’s flag but also the face of the deputy. The opposition colleagues do not have the same wishes as us. We want electronic voting, they want the old commissioners. I have absolutely no faith in the opposition colleagues and these honorable commissioners not only steal votes, but also the Albanian state. Because they want to put them to work tomorrow for the service they have done to the party. They are all general secretaries and directors, they receive remuneration for their service. Do electronic voting and it’s very simple. That they say I saved the votes, I defended the votes. The opposition colleagues do not have this desire. It’s corporate interests, it doesn’t matter which side you’re from. The day has come for something that overturns this system, and I don’t have my opposition colleagues in this battle. We think differently.”
For Shehi, the opposition must also reverse the relationship with the internationals, who have been its natural allies.
“The Albanian opposition has been naturally connected to the West, now the nephews of the communists are our allies, while we are viewed with suspicion. We must reverse this situation”.
He accuses the Socialist Party of having produced the wildest capitalism in these 12 years and emphasizes that the points of his party’s program are based on industrialization, agriculture, education and the increase of salaries and pensions.
“Let’s get back to education, because Albania is also getting poorer with knowledge. Our youth are behind with their education. Education and a welfare state, we have been led by the SP for 12 years, which is supposed to protect the worker and the peasant. These have produced the wildest capitalism ever. The right has been more social. There are pensioners with 170 thousand ALL, but what will these people live on? Is it thought? They borrow money to build tunnels to go to the houses of the poor. Let the roads be built, because we will leave it to the coming generations, but what are we waiting for the pension scheme to be released. I invite you to make a special fund, let’s fill it with public debt, this is our social program; industrialization, agriculture, education and salary and pensions. Education does not simply mean salary and school, but primarily the perspective that education is not done today for tomorrow. Semi-private health, education as well. The whole system is collapsing and I say the day has come to rebuild it. But as far as I can see, there is no great desire.”
Although alone, he is not afraid of the electoral race and says that if he is losing, he will leave politics and devote himself to books.
“I invented this race job and I have always won this race. I invite everyone, I want the lists to be opened. I have always been alone. I go into my city and get my votes. This system has lined up everyone waiting for election night to see what list the president has on the night of the election. This is an ugly time for democracy. And so they do not have the courage to raise their hand against evil and evil dominates us. I’m getting lost, I write books too, the age of books is coming, I’m 66 years old. If Albanians don’t vote for me, my time is up. I don’t have to call SPAK ever until he calls me above. Others get them sometimes, but this is a big difference for Albania”.
Shehi says that the opposition has the alternative to defeat Edi Rama, but it needs a new projection.
“I have Edi Rama as my opponent, these others are my rivals. The opposition had 600,000 votes because they are the people who do not want this government. More dissatisfaction with this regime. I don’t have to campaign either against Berisha or against Meta, I call them my colleagues. I campaign with Rama what I have done all my life, they do the opposite. The opposition has an alternative, they need another 100 thousand to defeat Edi Rama and they cannot do it. Those who act as if they don’t understand anything are either stupid or masquerading. All after the elections we make the new projection. The day has come for the opposition to do this analysis”.
He supports the vote of the diaspora and hopes that Rama can pave the way for this issue after the enthusiasm in Greece and Milan.
“I support the vote of the diaspora and I hope that in this Rama’s populism he will be more tolerant to open this path. In this enthusiasm he has to open the way to vote. Albanians of the Diaspora should vote because I am convinced that they will vote for the best part, that in Albania no one fires them, there are no patronage, no one votes for them and the best part is the opposition”.
