The serious event that happened in Durrës, where the 19-year-old girl killed her father, has shocked Albania.
She shot him dead and then buried him in the backyard. On February 13, her 25-year-old brother reported the disappearance of his father, Pëllumb Meta, to the police, where the investigation into this event began. On February 17, the police discovered the victim’s car parked on the road axis Shënavlash-Sektor Rinia, where from the investigative actions, they discovered that Meta had not disappeared, but had been killed and buried in the backyard by his daughter Hygerta Meta, who is under the handcuffs of the police. She has stated that she killed her father because he wanted to betroth her against her will.
It is suspected that other family members were aware of the crime, who may have helped to hide the crime by burying the 50-year-old in the backyard.
“I wanted to follow my dreams, continue school.” This is what Hygerta Meta declared, who killed her father and then buried him in the backyard, while the family declared him missing.
The 19-year-old admitted the crime, while emphasizing that the reason was the fact that her father, Pëllumb Meta, wanted to betroth her to a boy from her village, Shënvlash i Durres, an immigrant.
“I wanted to follow my dreams, continue school. The happiest day of my life was when I won the school. He wanted to get me engaged to someone who was not on my level. With a boy from the village, immigrant to Italy. But I didn’t want to and I killed her,” the young woman reportedly told the police.
Media sources indicate that the family consisted of 5 members, 3 children (2 boys and girls) and the 50-year-old man and his wife lived in the village of Shënavlash.
One of the boys reported that his father was missing and the police started investigations and checks and first found the deceased’s car parked on the Shënavlash-Parku Rinia axis, which was far from his apartment.
The police had suspicions that it was related to a criminal event and started questioning the whole family and the one who told the story was the 19-year-old girl who, after being questioned several times, said that she killed her father because he wanted to betroth her reluctantly and they had had conflicts before.
According to her testimony, she stated that she killed her father near the apartment in the hut with a pistol that she claims was held by her father since the latter worked as a night watchman. The murder happened on February 13, during the investigation the agents found his car abandoned in the Rinia sector. This is where the first doubts about the man’s fate began.
Several family members were interrogated until the girl admitted to the crime. She stated that she killed her father, tied him up, wrapped him in a blanket and buried him in the cow shed.
The police are continuing the investigation to fully clarify the incident because they suspect that there may be accomplices. The exhumation of the 50-year-old’s body was carried out and from the preliminary examination it was noticed that they had tied him with a rope before burying him.
