The co-chairman of the Commission for Electoral Reform in the ranks of the socialists, Damian Gjiknuri, has stated that the DP did not know how to play with electoral tactics in order to maximize the vote.
Gjiknuri made the comments on the “Barometer” show on Euronews Albania, where he said that the opposition could all join the bloc in the elections, in order to maximize the vote in 2021.
He added that a change in the electoral system cannot be demanded every time the opposition makes tactical mistakes that cause it to lose votes.
“What if the diaspora vote is also introduced, implemented and they vote in the districts? We can still have equality of votes in terms of the term for one mandate. So we always talk about what we know, but from the point of view of the allocation of mandates, the system is proportional.
The regional system, what the citizens said… Maybe we like that everything takes place in Tirana, but there are people who want everything to be connected to the territory. With a national proportional system, you will be left with unrepresented territories because there is no vote, no representation. It’s all electoral tactics.
The opposition did not know how to act well with electoral tactics and suffered from strategic mistakes that have consequences. So your mistake cannot be corrected because you say I made a big mistake. You said 48%, Alibeaj said it right. Today I heard the opposition union. The Union should enter as a block and maximize the vote. Let’s look at the figures in 2021”, said Gjiknuri.
