In the meantime, the former mayor benefits from the abbreviated trial reducing the sentence by 1/3, being finally sentenced to 3 years in prison if GJKKO accepts SPAK’s claim.
It has also been requested that Safet Gjic be deprived of the right to exercise public functions for 5 years.
Meanwhile, for Alma Kaçi, SPAK requested a prison sentence of 1 year and six months, which with a shortened trial can be converted to 1 year in prison.
Against Safet Gjici, SPAK has raised the charge of passive corruption, after promising Alma Kaç the tender for the dogs after the sexual act in the office of the mayor of Kukës.
Gjici has been in a cell since June 24 by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office after the publication of the film material where he is shown having sexual relations with Alma Kacin.

According to SPAK’s suspicions, Safet Gjici has favored Alma Kaçi by offering financial support, by decision of the Municipal Council, on a project for sheltering and caring for stray dogs in the city.

The 51-year-old Safet Gjici is accused of the criminal offense of “passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials” article 260 of the Criminal Code, where if the charge is proven. he can be sentenced to prison from 2 to 8 years.
40-year-old Alma Kaçi is accused of the criminal offense “Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials”, article 245 of the Criminal Code, where if the charge is proven, she can be sentenced to prison from one to 5 years.
