An unexpected news shocked yesterday, not only the blue headquarters, but the whole country. The former deputy of the Democratic Party, Gerti Bogdani, died at the age of 44, suspected to be a cardiac arrest.
The Democratic Party has declared today a day of mourning, as it lowered its flags to half-mast and canceled activities throughout the country.
Gerti Bogdani will be escorted today to his last residence, where he will be laid to rest in the Sharra cemetery, while the Assembly of Albania is holding a tribute in his honor.
He was a deputy for two legislatures from 2009 to 2017, while also holding the position of head of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party during the years 2009-2015.
However, Gerti Bogdani is not the only FRPD chairman who lost his life at a young age.
Before him, during the years 2002-2009, the position of head of the FRPD was held by Sokol Olldashi, who died at the age of 41 on November 20, 2013, after a car accident in Krrabë. Sokol Olldashi lost control of the car due to the high speed and steep turn, lost control, falling 20 meters down into the abyss.
Meanwhile, during the years 2000-2002, the post of head of the FRPD was held by the former MP Kolin Gjoka. He died at the age of 36 on February 1, 2002 after a serious illness.
