The Fiks Fare show aired yesterday evening the case of Margarita Taraj, a fourth-grade teacher at the “Ramazan Jarani” school in the capital, who accuses the school’s principal of sexual harassment and retaliation after rejecting her.
According to the teacher, the harassment by the principal began four years ago, when he made inappropriate comments about her appearance and clothing, telling her she was “beautiful” and threatening her with consequences at work. “I’ll either turn my nose up at you or you’ll leave,” the teacher says, which were the principal’s constant words in meetings with her.
“There have been times when I’ve been alone in the computer room, the principal would come and tell me how good you’ve done, how can we get you by the hand,” the teacher says.
Taraj explains that her rejection of the principal’s claims has led to a continuous period of retaliation, including the principal’s negative influence on the students’ parents.
She says that, through this influence, a parent physically hit the teacher in the classroom, after an incident where she asked his son not to be late. This incident was reported to the police by the teacher.
The teacher says that a child with disabilities came to her class, who had been evaluated with high grades for 3 years, meanwhile the child could not write and after the evidence, the parent became aggressive with the teacher.
Fiksi journalists asked for an answer from the school principal, Ilirjan Kalemasi. He denied having harassed the teacher, and according to him, the teacher even has problems.
After being asked about the teacher being hit by a parent, the principal passed the responsibility to the teacher, saying that her bad behavior forced the parent to react in that way. At first, the principal says the teacher hit the parent, then says he does not know what happened.
He also mentioned that for the issue of the student with disabilities, an assistant teacher has been appointed, emphasizing that this is a known and approved process.
According to the director, a procedure is being carried out to dismiss the teacher from her job even though the latter has brought the report of her ability to work. “She has brought a report of her ability to work, but let’s not get into that, she brought it at the beginning of the year,” says the director.
Meanwhile, he questions the teacher’s ability even though the doctor has said that she is capable, thus also demanding the teacher’s dismissal from the school.
