The well-known singer, Elsa Lila, has confessed the difficulties she has faced in life, from the murder of her mother, Eva Vishaj, when she was only 15 years old, to the arrest for drugs in Italy.
During a conversation with actor Albano Bogdo at Ferma Vip, Elsa Lila confessed that she counted the seconds until she turned 18 to open the case of her mother, who was executed with a bullet to the head in 1997 and the reason for her murder still remains mystery.
“A man should live to be 18 years old. I was 15 years old and I was counting the days, hours, seconds until I turned 18 and opened the process. I opened the case myself, I had a lawyer since I was 18 years old for my mother’s case. People don’t know, that’s how life comes to fortify you. For a person to live waiting to turn 18 with stress, I counted the days, hours, seconds, to turn 18 and start the process”, said Elsa Lila.
While she also narrated the moment when she was arrested by the Italian police in the apartment where she lived with her daughter. Elsa Lila has said that it was 5 o’clock in the morning when the carabinieri went to her house and arrested her, adding that she kept calm.
“I was sleeping in my house, it was 5 o’clock in the morning, there was a knock on my door and 7 policemen showed up to arrest me, not having any kind of connection with criminal premises, you sleep peacefully at night. What happens suddenly is like a theater of the absurd, mixed with shock, with disbelief about what is happening, watching your life turn upside down for 5 minutes, the child being taken away being fine and beautiful, sleeping with him, they just take him as if it is nothing, moreover without knowing what you have done.
I kept absolute calm because until the end it seemed like a curse, I didn’t want to give myself in front of my daughter, I cried in prison, not at home. I waited for the officers like some friends to come home. Two months or so in there seems like a long time, the girl is still over the horror, I kept my mind only on her, I didn’t want her to look at me there and save it as a photographic memory. I begged some other girls who had phone rights, I paid them cigarettes, to contact my father through their family members to get information about my daughter. I was never punished because I did nothing”, confessed Elsa Lila.
How the murder of Elsa Lila’s mother happened
The murder of Eva Vishaj happened on May 23, 1997, when she was found dead, shot in the head near the 29th kilometer, on the Tirana-Elbasan road axis. From the investigations on this event which were reopened years later, specifically in 2004, the Prosecutor’s Office accused Albenc Ago as the author of the murder. Ago was tried in absentia and on December 1, 2005, the trio of judges headed by judge Gjin Gjoni found Albenc Ago guilty of “intentional murder” and “unlawful possession of combat weapons and ammunition”.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The court reasoned in its decision that: “The people who knew her saw the victim Eva Vishaj on the same day in a sky-colored ‘Mitsubishi’ car, which was traveling in the direction of Elbasan Street, right at the Artistic Liceu, a car that was directed by the defendant Albenc Ago and that between the two it turned out that there was a strained relationship, a fact that was noticed by these witnesses”.
After the decision was given, Albenc Ago was arrested in Italy and then extradited to Albania, while in May 2008, the Court of Tirana accepted the reinstatement of the file. After reviewing the file on December 17, 2008, the Appeal upheld the 20-year prison sentence. While Ago’s appeal was not accepted by the Criminal College of the Supreme Court. Ago later turned to the Constitutional Court, which in November 2012 returned the file for reconsideration in the Appeal.
