A 41-year-old woman ended her life yesterday by drinking phostoxin. The victim, Shpresa Krëku, is known to have called her brother before committing the heinous act, saying: “I can’t do it anymore, leave the children.”
After the call from the 41-year-old woman, her brother immediately went to her apartment in the village of Bilçë in Berat, where he found her in critical condition.
He first sent him to the Berat Regional Hospital and then he was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he was found dead 15 minutes after arrival.
The mother of two children is reported to have drunk 3 grains of phostoxin after an argument on the phone with her husband, Çlirim Krëku, who has been living in Thessaloniki, Greece for a year.
The cause of the self-poisoning of the mother of two children is still a mystery, while the age notice does not mention the name of the husband, only the parents, brother and children.
The 41-year-old asked in the last moments of her life to be buried in the village of Banaj near her family.
