The Greek media have devoted a special article to the Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, whom they describe as the “pivot” of the confusion between the relations between Albania and Greece and the debt owed to the Greek company, “Actor”.

In this article, Ballaku is also blamed for the fact that he asked the Greek company to speed up the works, but when the latter fulfilled Ballaku’s demands, the latter did not pay them.

The name of the Minister of Infrastructure and Deputy Prime Minister Edi Rama constitutes a crack in Albania’s stalemate. On March 13, SPAK, the Court against Corruption, arrested Evis Berberi, the head of the Albanian Road Authority and one of the most trusted associates of the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku.
The accusation was related to construction projects and luxury tenders, which were won by Edi Rama’s chosen ones. According to the Albanian media, after a police raid, SPAK, the Anti-Corruption Court, arrested Evis Berberi, the head of the Albanian Road Authority.
The police arrested him together with two business associates (Valter Begaj and Ervis Lamajn), while large sums of money and paintings worth hundreds of thousands of euros were seized from his apartment. Evis Berberi was Minister Balluku’s right-hand man and was the one who was photographed next to her at all inspections and inaugurations of major road projects.
According to SPAK, Valter Begaj, owner of the NET – GROUP company, won 6 public tenders, the money from which he transferred through transactions to the DAAM company. The benefit seems to be 2.7 million euros.
