One day before the deadline, President Bajram Begaj decreed the law on investigative commissions.
It is about the changes proposed by the Socialist Party, which were then approved in December 2023.
Earlier on this issue, the leader of the Democratic Party group, Gazment Bardhi, addressed the president not to decree this law.
In the announcement of the Presidency, the president argues through 5 points the reasons for his decision to decree these changes.
“Regarding the request for the inclusion of the President of the Republic in the process of political dialogue, this constitutes a consideration of a different nature from the considerations that belong to the procedure of constitutional review of laws. The return of laws for review is not the constitutional instrument given to the President of the Republic to facilitate dialogue. The laws are not announced for the sake of “political dialogue between the parties”, but as part of the legislative process, because they successfully pass the constitutional filter”, it is stated in point 5, which responds to Bardhi’s request to the president not to decree this law .
