The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has spoken about the relations between the Albanian and Greek governments. The head of the government said that the personal relationship with the Prime Minister of Greece is very good, while there is an impasse in the institutional relationship.

According to Rama, what separates him from Prime Minister Mitsotakis is how Greek politics reads the case of Fredi Beleri.

“My relations with Prime Minister Mitsotakis are very good. On a personal level, our relations are very good. In terms of institutional roles, it is known that there is an impasse, and it is known what the impasse is.

The way Greek politics has read the Beleri case, the way it has inflamed it in the eyes of the Greek public opinion for internal consumption, makes it aware of what is reflected in the relationship between the two governments.

But what I want to say is that in the meantime we had a substratum in these relations, where things worked and went normally”, said Rama on the show Opinion.

The prime minister also admitted that there was a bad reaction from Greek politics to this meeting, but that, according to him, there was no reason. He emphasized that there were no meetings with Greek government officials, as he had not requested such a thing.

“We did not ask for any meeting with the Greek authorities because we came for this meeting. And if we were to ask for a meeting, in the way Greek politics was positioned, it would feel in position. Let’s be honest in relation to the protocols, for a visit of a head of government, special measures are taken. To be realistic, an atmosphere was created. From the walking ways, it created a situation that this meeting became the center of attention and of course it may have created a feeling in the authorities to take measures”, said Rama.
