The Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) has requested a sentence of 2.6 years in prison for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.

This Tuesday, a session was held where the conclusions for Beleri were given by the two special prosecutors, Adnand Xholi and Dorina Bejko.

Meanwhile, for Pandeli Kokavesh, SPAK demanded a sentence of 2 years in prison. But due to his and his son’s health condition, SPAK asked the court to suspend the prison sentence and put him on probation for the next 4 years. The next session will be held on February 28, at 2:30 p.m.

The candidate of the “Together We Win” coalition, Fredi Beleri, was arrested in the premises of a bar in Himare, just 2 days before the local elections of May 14, 2023, after he was caught red-handed with his colleague Pandeli Kokaveshi buying votes.

He was arrested before the voting for “active corruption in the elections” and therefore could not take the oath as he was not given permission to leave the cell.
