The suicide of Bedrie Loka, a 41-year-old mother of 3 children, by drinking phostoxin, has not yet been finally clarified by the justice authorities and why her husband, Xhemal Loka, ended up in prison, with the accusation that he pushed the deceased towards suicide.
Initially, it was reported that the reason for this was the bullying done by unidentified persons to Bedrie Loka on Tik Tok, but later the children’s testimonies and the publication of the images showed that the victim also had problems with her husband, who was abusing her. .

Xhemal Loka told the police that the reason for Bedrie Loka’s suicide was the photo that was published on Tik Tok and then he described the event, from the moment he found Bedrie lying in the living room after drinking phostoxin, the transportation in the hospital of Durra and then at QSUT.

Bedrie Loka was found in her last throes on the first floor of her apartment, in the village of Vardardhë in Sukthi, at 07:30 in the morning on January 2nd, only to lose her life a few hours later in one of the Center’s pavilions. Mother Teresa University Hospital in Tirana.
The police reported that the cause of death of the 41-year-old mother of four was the use of phostoxin, but in fact her real cause of death was not just a deadly poisonous drug, but a human poison that had involving her in an intrigue that would then end with her husband’s continued violence, leading her to the final act of self-sacrifice.
The deceased, who worked in a fashion factory in the area where she lived, had been the scene of a public humiliation for a year, undertaken by as yet unidentified persons, who had targeted her by opening a fake profile on Tik- Tok, a profile that severely undermined her honor as a woman and mother. An act which Bedrie Loka had denounced for more than a year to the police and further to the prosecutor’s office, that despite this denunciation, these two bodies did not take any action to reveal the truth about who was the hand behind this profile that intended to dishonor her image as a woman, where the victim of this attack herself had given the police specific names of the persons she thought were invested in publicly insulting her.
“My name is Bedrie Loka. I appeared in front of you because today around 16:00 I was informed by my family members that they opened an account on TikTok, where they posted a photo of me and wrote many derogatory and offensive words about me. I suspect that this page was opened by two people who live in district 4. Their names are Albina D., about 30 years old, and her husband Bilbil D. The reason is that this girl Albina D. works with me and all the comments she wrote has done about my work and therefore I doubt it. I work for a rope processing company located in a place called Mbikalimi i Fllaka. I want to find out who opened this profile for me and why he did it”, says the deceased’s complaint to the police.
But despite this profile and the evil mouths of the world, while Bedrie Loka remained strong for almost a year and resisted the pressure of public opinion, she could not be like that in the face of the psychological terror and violence caused by her husband, Xhemal Loka. He returned from Greece in the last days of the year to the apartment and according to the testimonies already given by the couple’s children, he started beating his wife and their mother, where the reason was said to be the open profile on tik-tok that denigrated the figure her.
“Mom and dad always had arguments with each other and did not have a good relationship. They had a heated argument the day before Mom drank poison and died. Dad didn’t allow mom to go to grandma’s house and started cursing her.
The debate that night started from 19.00 to 23.00. When dad was in Greece, almost a year ago, he called mom’s cell phone and told her that; I will make you kill yourself, remember”, stated the son of Bedrie and Xhemal, Destan Loka.
Their father’s violence against their mother was also confirmed to the police by their eldest daughter, Rozalinda, who also confessed the last conversation she had with him, just a few moments before she ended her life. But also how her father, despite the fact that he was in emigration most of the time, violated his wife, exerting psychological pressure, even through the communications they had on the phone.
“They have not had a good relationship for a year. My grandmother had a stroke and my father wouldn’t let my mother visit her. My mother often told me that she was tired and was going to end her life. The last conversation I had with my mom was around 10:30 p.m. She told me that they had argued again.
I said to her: ‘So let that chat and shut up’ and she told me; “Okay, mom, it’s good that I sew it,” the couple’s daughter, Rozalinda Loka, testified.
But Xhemal Loka himself did not admit to the police, nor before the court, when he was informed by the security measure, that he was the cause that led to the suicide of his wife. He said that his wife was killed by Tik-Tok, and that he loved her, but he tried to hide the violence he had inflicted on her.
“I got up in the morning and saw Bedri lying on the ground in the living room, in the middle of the house. First, I transported him with my brother’s vehicle to the hospital emergency room in Durrës. There they told me that he had consumed phototoxin and they immediately sent him by ambulance to QSUT where they sent him to intensive care. The woman has had increased stress and anxiety recently. I think that she may have done this action because a year ago they opened a tik-tok address in her name. She had been saying for a long time that she couldn’t handle the photo they had published on the Tik-Tok network”, Xhemal Loka testified to the police.
But a video published in the media showed that Xhemal Loka was not sincere in his statements. He is seen as he abuses his wife inside the apartment, with the most insulting words, in the presence of their second son, who tries as much as possible to restrain his father’s fury, who is about to hit his wife. This continuous episode of violence, which she experienced, and which was documented only a few hours before the deceased ended her life.
“On January 2, the police operating room in Manzë received a notification that citizen Bedrie Loka had consumed suspected phostoxin in her apartment, and was urgently sent by her family first to the regional hospital in Durrës and then at QSUT. From the cross of the Loka family’s apartment in: ‘On the first floor of the apartment, plastic bottles of water and some suspected phostoxin capsules were found, which are thought to have been consumed by this citizen. Despite being admitted to the ‘Mother Teresa’ Hospital and under the care of doctors, on January 3, 2024, Bedrie Loka passed away as a result of health complications,” the investigation file states.
But is Tik-Toku actually the cause that led Bedrije Loka to the act of suicide, or is a greater human intrigue playing out under the carpet, where one of the people who may have a finger may be her husband Xhemal Loka himself, a a character with many shadows in his life. Convicted for several criminal offenses inside and outside the country, mainly for theft and involvement in drugs in Switzerland and France, who at the time of his arrest, a firearm and a quantity of cartridges were found outside the apartment. The man who, after the woman’s suicide, tried to hide the evidence, taking his phone to his sister, while the police found on the mobile phone of the couple’s minor son, videos containing violence and threats, which his father used against his mother. Videos which, after he had documented the violence, he had sent to his sister, Rozalinda, who was engaged at the time, where she informed her about the serious situation that had arisen in the family.
“They always fought with each other. I made some videos with my cell phone and took them to my sister where I said: ‘Here’s what dad is doing with mom. My phone is with the police, dad took it and said it was his,” the couple’s little son testified.
But Xhemal Loka’s family tried to support their man. Before the Court, where he was expected to be familiar with the security measure, his mother said that the son had forgiven his wife for the Tik-Tok story, thus alluding to a well-known story. Even drawing attention to an incident that happened 12 years ago in the family of Xhemal Loka, where a considerable amount of money was robbed, but according to his mother, Xhemal had forgiven both stories to Bedria, doing this the latter indirectly guilty.
“Boy, forgive me the tik toku, forgive me the money too. “Bedria slept in the boy’s house,” Xhamal Loka’s mother, Sanije Loka, testified.
Xhemal Loka’s brother exonerates Xhemal, saying that he did not abuse his wife, while he accuses the deceased’s brothers of threats.
“Bedria’s brothers have threatened us”, Xhemal’s brother, Fatmir Loka, testified.
But Bedries Loka’s brothers have a different opinion from her husband’s family. They blame her husband Xhemal Loka for the loss of the life of their sister and their close friend, who according to them has violated his wife since the first day they were married.
“Since March 2000, since my sister got married, he has treated her badly. He physically abused her several times. I believe that he did this action only because of Xhemal’s violence. The work of tik tok is not related”, said the brother of Bedrie Loka, Avdi Bushi.
But was Tik-Toku a reason invented even by the husband, to put the late Bedrije Loka in a position that he did not have, who, upon arriving from Greece at the end of 2023, began to accuse his wife for immorality and for her alleged extramarital affair, as is also this testimony of the couple’s second son.
“On December 27, when dad came home, he confronted mom, as he said he had heard other people’s words about him. He said all kinds of words to mom. He also told her that he will kill her, insulted her with harsh words and punched and kicked her mother. He even accused her, telling her that he was taking her as his lover”, testified Kledjan Loka.
But while many thoughts revolve around what could be the real intrigue of the cause that led to the sacrifice of Bedrije Loka, it is Rozalinda herself, the eldest daughter of the couple, who in her testimony given to the police, already gives another dynamic , the possible scenarios of the reasons that led to the cause of their mother’s suicide. Where now in the middle of this story enters a French woman, who allegedly had an affair with her father, which seems to intrigue even more the serious event that followed and why not, the cause and the authors who were invested in it opened a fake TikTok profile for the mother of four.
“Somewhere from September 2023, mom found dad some letters in French that a woman sent her. She was French and she communicated with my brother and told him that she had an affair with Xhemal. This was a reason that killed my mother even more psychologically,” Rozalinda Loka testified.
Now the biggest public debate is whether the late Bedrie Loka, the mother of four children was killed by Tik Toku, or human malice, a type of poisonous plant that is found and grows commonly among us. And is this the real moral crisis in which the Albanian society has plunged….
