The testimony of 23-year-old Azgan Mernica, who surrendered to the police late Wednesday (May 15) after two days on the run, has been clarified. The young man is accused of shooting an officer of the Eagles, Novruz Cenalia, with a bullet in the head at noon on May 13 in the village of Baltëz in Fier.
According to the sources, the 23-year-old declared to the investigators that everything was temporary.
Agzan Mernica confessed that he was traveling by car with his mother and while crossing a road in the village of Baltëz, he collided with the police officer Nevruz Cenalia.
According to the 23-year-old, at one point he realized and saw that the policeman had touched him.
“I thought he cursed and insulted me”, he said, adding that at this moment he got out of the car to explain himself and saw that the policeman reached for the service weapon.
The young man stated that he shot thinking that the first officer would kill him, since according to 23-year-old Novruz Cenalia, he had reached for the crime weapon.
The evidence of the perpetrator of the crime has been taken with reservations by the investigative team and will be re-examined.
