Lulzim Basha promises to enter the battlefield of the parliamentary elections, as a new political pole, facing Edi Rama and the socialists and the coalition of opposition parties led by the leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha.
In an interview for Vizion Plus, Lulzim Basha guarantees that in addition to the battle in the High Court to recover the logo and seal of the Democratic Party, the Euro-Atlantic Democrats are making all preparations to participate in the elections.
“Of course, we ask that this happen as soon as possible. The other calendar is the electoral calendar. Whatever happens, the Euro-Atlantic Democrats will be in the elections. Either with the legitimacy returned through a fair legal process or by using all that the electoral code offers and thus enabling our list of candidates with our allies with our program throughout Albania”, declared Basha.
When talking about allies, Lulzim Basha rules out any possibility of a coalition with DP leader Sali Berisha and the other political forces that have lined up alongside him.
“These formations enter this electoral season without political morality. And we see this day by day, we see it in the failure of political initiatives, of political action, the degeneration of the so-called civil disobedience, in the emptying of the squares by protesters. The first and foremost is the construction of a political morality where citizens who want change, who want change, who really want to put an end to the 12-year corrupt misgovernment of Edi Rama, have faith in the candidates for MPs, in the program”, said Basha.
According to Basha, there is a collaboration between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the two central figures of the opposition, Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, the first under house arrest and the second in prison, and it is up to the Albanians to change this political reality with their vote.
“What affects the general public situation is the fact that the same transition actors are playing all sorts of games to continue, to reposition themselves for at least the next 4 years. And there is no doubt that here they are cooperating with each other. It is clear that Mr. Rama, that in the next alternative elections, between him and Mr. Berisha, our effort is to destroy this cage in which these transition dinosaurs want to put the choice for Albanians. And let’s tell Albanians that the next elections are for themselves”, declared Basha.
Lulzim Basha stressed that Edi Rama and Sali Berisha bear responsibility for the lack of a complete electoral reform, criticizing the path chosen for the voting of emigrants, a path which, according to him, favors the government and the SP.
“Catastrophe. The very goal of enabling emigrants to vote foresees, (that even today, even 5 years ago, 10 years ago emigrants could vote by coming to Albania), the idea is to make it simple for them. Not only have they not made it easy for immigrants to vote, but they have made it easy for the ruling party to build a patronage system to garner as many votes as they need to change the electoral result in certain districts,” Basha said.
Basha explains to Vizion Plus that he is building the team with which he will compete in the parliamentary elections, while he himself will lead the battle in Tirana.
Will you compete in Tirana yourself?
Basha: I believe so!
On December 4, Lulzim Basha, together with several other parties, will try to convince the Constitutional Court to fully open the lists of candidates for deputies, and Basha hopes that the judges will change the rules of the electoral game in favor of citizens and their right to choose the deputies who will represent them.
