The Movement for National Development and the newly formed party “Right 1912” have today presented the platform for a broad coalition, for the new elections to be held in May 2025.

Through a joint press release, LZHK and “Right 1912” indicate that the creation of this coalition comes as a need to unite those entities that support the opening of the lists, a request of small parties that was rejected a few days ago by the Constitutional Court.

“In conditions where the main political groups have closed the electoral lists and have strengthened a system that favors authoritarian and corrupt governance, it is essential to take joint and determined action. All those who support the opening of the electoral lists and share the values of democracy must unite in a broad and strong pre-election coalition.

The “Right 1912” Party, the LZHK and other political forces have used every legal and institutional means to guarantee respect for the constitutional right of citizens to elect their representatives. Our efforts in the Constitutional Court to restore the Electoral Code in accordance with the Constitution and to open the electoral lists did not achieve the desired result. This constitutes a lost opportunity for the democratization of the country and the overthrow of a failed political system.

However, the possibilities for change remain open. Albanian society urgently requires a political and social transformation. Inspired by this moment and the demands of citizens, we today publicly present a platform for the creation of a broad coalition, based on the values of democracy, representation and civic inclusion.

This platform is an appeal to all political, public and citizen actors and factors who wish to contribute to building a fairer and better Albania. “Our goal is not only to improve the political offer, but also to concretize it in a broad coalition that reflects citizens’ demands for change,” the statement reads.
