The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazmend Bardhi, spoke yesterday evening about the statements he made earlier against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha during the internal battle of the Democratic Party.
Invited to the “Opinion” show, Bardhi said that he made the statements at a time when he believed that PD would be stronger without Berisha, but the loss in the May 14 elections showed that unification was necessary.
He described Berisha as the strongest person in the PD, while emphasizing that the deputies will continue the process of unification in all structures.
Bardhi: “I fought an internal battle with Berisha. May 14 and then it showed that… I believed that without Berisha the PD could be stronger, but the result was that we had lost 300 thousand votes from the previous elections. So, who makes this kind of balance and do you remember why we fought the battle with Berisha? For my position? No, but to strengthen PD. But when you see that the result is the opposite of what you thought, of course you will change. Berisha is the most powerful person in PD. I believed and fought for that path and I said that most of the PD did not think like Bardhi. At this moment, my opinion in DP is a minority. My goal is to make every effort to strengthen the PD and wake it up. Joining forces, a unity in diversity. Me and the MP will stick to our act of union”.
