A serious scandal hit the Albanian Football Federation yesterday, after an Albanian supervisor who was in the training camp that the National Team was staying near Dortmund, raped a female employee.
The prestigious German “Bild” has revealed new details, with the supervisor who is 26 years old, while the victim is 18 years old.
In the complaint made, she told the police that the Albanian forced her into the kitchen, kissed her and then sexually harassed her.
Although the public prosecutor was immediately informed about the reported sexual act, the accused was able to fly home unmolested the next day, after Albania’s defeat against Spain, which also marked the last match of the Rossoneri in the European Championship.
“Since there are still no pressing suspicions, an arrest warrant request has not been filed under German law, a rapist must serve at least two years in prison,” said a spokeswoman for the prosecuting authority.
It is currently unclear how the investigation will proceed, possibly through a complicated legal aid application.
“The care of the employee and the protection of her personal rights have the main priority”, said a spokeswoman for “SportCentrum Kaiserau”. After the incident became known, the man was immediately suspended by the Albanian Football Federation, as it is known that he is neither a player, nor a staff member, nor a high-ranking official.
