The Shkodra Prosecution Office has completed the investigation into the drowning of Alma Arrazi and her 3 minor children in the Buna River. The prosecution has ruled out the involvement of a third person in the serious incident that shook the country in May 2024.
According to the Prosecution Office, the investigation has revealed that the perpetrator of the murder of the three children is their mother, Alma Arrazi, who decided to end her life along with her two daughters aged 9 and 8, as well as her 3-year-old son, on the evening of May 2 by jumping into the Buna River.
The prosecution has meanwhile requested a 6-year prison sentence for the victim’s husband, citizen Erdgys Arrazi, on the charge of causing Alma Arrazi’s suicide.
If convicted, Erdgys Arrazi will spend 4 years behind bars as his sentence is reduced by 1/3 due to the summary trial.
According to the prosecution, the victim’s husband committed behavior that discredited the dignity of Alma Arrazi, forcing her to commit suicide and kill her three children.
Regarding the minors, the prosecution has registered a charge of murder due to the special quality of the victim.
Due to the separation from the mother, Alma Arrazi, this second charge has been dismissed by the Shkodra prosecution.
39-year-old Alma Arrazi took her three children with her and jumped into the waters of the Buna River in Shkodra, ending her life.
Three days after the tragedy, a fisherman accidentally found the body of one of the girls. Then, RENEA divers from Tirana went to the scene, who after several days of searching managed to find the other bodies of the mother and two children drowned in the water in different places.
After this serious incident, the police arrested the victim’s husband and the father of the three children. Erdgys Arrazi has denied that he is the cause of his wife’s suicide and consequently of his three minor children, saying that the suspicions and accusations that he had mistreated and psychologically or physically abused his wife were untrue, but the suspect later accepted the summary trial.
Despite these allegations, at the end of the investigation, the prosecution found the 32-year-old guilty of the criminal offense of causing suicide, requesting 6 years in prison at the Shkodra Court.
It is now expected what the decision of the black squads will be after the completion of the investigation by the prosecution and the defense that will be presented by the lawyers.
