The British ambassador, Alastair King-Smith, was seen entering the premises of the Special Prosecutor’s Office this Thursday.
On the visit, which lasted about two hours, there was no prior announcement from SPAK nor the British embassy, but sources close to the prosecutor’s office indicate that the ambassador will discuss with prosecutors regarding the Albanian drug trafficking groups operating in Great Britain.
On leaving, Alastair King-Smith did not prefer to make a statement to journalists.
After the visit, SPAK issued an official announcement through which it was announced that the Head of the Special Prosecution, Altin Dumani, has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director General of the National Anti-Crime Agency (NCA), Mr. Graeme Biggar. of the United Kingdom.
“The main purpose of this memorandum is to institutionalize the successful partnership already established between SPAK and NCA, in the joint effort to fight organized crime, money laundering and corruption of high public officials. This cooperation is deepened and made more sustainable through this memorandum, which will help accelerate the exchange of information and best practices in the field of criminal justice. This memorandum envisages a continuous commitment of the two parties to strengthen cooperation between them and to facilitate relations with other law enforcement agencies in increasing the fight against international organized crime, the announcement states.
