A group of activists are protesting this Thursday in front of the Assembly against the changes proposed by the government to the law on protected areas. The initiative that envisages allowing constructions in protected areas has received vocal criticism from the opposition, civil society and environmental protection organizations. Reactions against the legal changes have not been absent from the international community, however, the government does not seem to have any signs of withdrawal, as the vote in the Assembly is expected this Thursday.

The protesters, on the other hand, have called on the deputies to withdraw from voting on the law. They describe the law as destructive to the environment and say that it will lead to construction destroying protected areas, causing irreversible damage to the environment and creating benefits only for businessmen close to the government.

“Tomorrow there will be no more coast as it will be the private property of a few individuals and they will demand staggering amounts of money for you to enjoy your nature, for your children to play as you played. This is a measure that destroys the future of the nation, it belongs to everyone”, said one of the protesters in his speech.

“We will break the windows of the parliament if it approves,” said a protester.
